K20 Cycling Club launches mountain bike group

K20 Cycling Club is expanding its offering to bike-lovers in Kent by launching a mountain bike group.

The club, which launched just before the Covid pandemic, has grown to over 120 members in its first two years, with up to six pace groups of riders hitting Kent’s roads each Wednesday and Saturday morning from its home in Marden.  The club has helped new riders through the Sofa to Saddle scheme and moved off-road with the launch of its Gravel Bike Group last year – a group that rides a mixture of road, trails and tracks on drop handlebar bikes with wider tyres.

Now the club aims to bring together members and newcomers in a new Mountain Bike Group that will ride the singletrack of the Forestry Commission’s Bedgebury Pinetum and more challenging trails further afield.

The Group’s co-ordinator, Jonathan Hawker, said: “Many of our members love riding off-road, which really helps raise your skills and fitness and is great fun too.  So as a club that prides itself on its friendliness, it seemed the obvious step to bring mountain bike lovers together to add a social element to the riding many of us have been doing alone.  We’ll have fun improving together and even more fun chatting about it.”
