A Christmas Message from our Chairman
Ladies and Gentlemen
As we come to the end of 2021 and fast approach another unusual Christmas, I hope that you, your family and friends are all well and looking forward to celebrating.
In many ways it has been an unpredictable year for our members, some who have suffered sad losses, or faced periods of isolation from loved ones. Like everyone, the Club has faced various restrictions and lockdowns but with the help and support of our group leaders and the enthusiasm of our members, we have managed to remain very active throughout the year. 2021 has been a great year for our club with membership at an all-time high, close to 100 registered members. The Club continues to attract new people and we anticipate that our membership will increase.
Whilst the cycling has been our main focus we had hoped to hold more social events but sadly circumstances have not allowed this. However, we will continue to make plans for more cycling and social events in 2022 and hopefully they will all come to fruition. Plans are already underway for our club Sportive and further details will be communicated shortly.
Christmas is a very special time for us all, a time to spend with family and friends, reflect on a year passed and plan for the New Year ahead. It is also a time to recharge our batteries and prepare for the opportunities that may lie ahead in 2022.
The start of next year looks like being a challenging period but we need to remain positive about the future and stick together as a club, to support each other and the local community, as we have done so successfully in 2021. We should look forward to better days ahead, which will be all the more rewarding for us when they arrive.
On behalf of the Committee and myself I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Paul Grout
Chairman
