K20 to the Rescue

K20 members have been assisting at the the Maidstone repair cafe and helping local teenagers to maintain their own bikes.

At one of these sessions a teenager who was going through a very tough time came in to ask for help with his bike. The lad concerned was living with his grand parents and his mum was seriously ill in hospital.

His bike needed a replacement wheel . Without it he couldn’t get to school. A request was put out to the club membership to see if anyone could help. Within the hour a replacement mountain bike was donated . However it turned out that the damaged cycle had sentimental value as this belonged to the lads father who had passed away. As a result the rear wheel on dad’s bike was also replaced . The end result was a new mountain bike, a fixed wheel and a happy young lad that could now get to school . All thanks to K20 members Justin, Annie and Kit.
