K20 Inaugural Ride - Saturday 25 July 2020

Early arrivals in time for coffee!

Early arrivals in time for coffee!

Despite the predicted inclement weather, an enthusiastic group of K20 members and non-members met bright and early for pre-ride refreshments at the Old Post Office Coffee House, Marden.

The ride was split into two routes, a longer one of 48 miles and a less challenging one of 30 miles with a coffee stop at Lenham. The first of the four groups of riders set off from Marden at 08.30 followed by each of the other three groups at slightly later times. The staggered set off times allowed for all rider abilities to be accommodated and for each group to arrive at the coffee stop at approximately the same time. The meet-up worked very well and several guest riders joined the groups for a very enjoyable and friendly get together.

The weather took a turn for the worst while everyone was indoors but as luck would have it by the time everyone was ready for the return ride the rains had all but stopped. While some riders made their own way back to Marden, the majority of the Club rode back, at a steady pace, as a single group to reflect and recoup at the Old Post Office Coffee House.

Overall the K20 Inaugural Ride was very well supported, proved to be a very successful event and hopefully the first of many. Congratulations to the Group Leaders and all those riders who took part.
